Midwest Spec-Fest Brings the Latest in Eye Care Innovation Across Ohio

Columbus, Ohio — The Opticians Association of Ohio (OAO) proudly presents Midwest Spec Fest, a dynamic new continuing education and networking series designed for the entire eye-care profession. Held across four Ohio cities, Spec-Fest offers a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge products, earn continuing education (CE) credits, and connect with industry leaders — all in one engaging weekend experience.

Event Dates and Locations

For the first time, OAO is bringing Midwest Spec-Fest to multiple Ohio regions, making participation easier than ever. (Open to all eye-care professionals — no Ohio residency required!)

  • February 7–8, 2026 – West Chester, OH | Marriott Cincinnati North, 6189 Muhlhauser Rd.
  • March 7–8, 2026 – Akron, OH | Sheraton Suites Akron, 1989 Front Street, Cuyahoga Falls
  • September 19–20, 2026 – Perrysburg, OH | Hilton Garden Inn, 6165 Levis Commons Blvd.
  • October 3–4, 2026 – Dublin, OH | Marriott Columbus Northwest, 5605 Blazer Pkwy

What Makes Spec-Fest Unique

  • Free exhibit hall access for all attendees — no registration fee required.
  • Free in-person CE credits for OAO members.
  • Open to the entire eye-care team — opticians, optometrists, ophthalmologists, office staff, technicians, frame stylists, and lab professionals.
  • Vendors from across the industry — including independent, designer, and fashion frame lines, lens manufacturers, labs, support and technology companies, and more — will be represented.
  • Four statewide events each year in key markets — Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Toledo — bringing education and innovation closer to you.

Event Highlights

Saturday is packed with interactive experiences and networking opportunities:

  • A complimentary “Taste of Italy” reception featuring Italian-themed refreshments and atmosphere.
  • A vibrant fashion show showcasing the latest eyewear designs, trends, and craftsmanship.
  • Exciting raffle prizes, including:

◦ An all-expense-paid trip for two to Milan, Italy, to attend the 2027 MIDO Eyewear Show

◦ An all-expense-paid trip for two to Vision Expo Las Vegas

“Midwest Spec-Fest was actually inspired by one of our new vendors, and several returning vendors, who pointed out the limited access to the Midwest market, especially now with only one Vision Expo,” said John Bruening, President of the OAO. “We recognized that not everyone interested in seeing the latest frames, lenses, and technology is an optician, so we expanded the event to welcome every professional in the eye-care community. Midwest Spec Fest is more than just an event, it’s a celebration of connection, innovation, and the future of our industry.”

Registration is now open. To learn more or register your team, visit www.oao.org/spec-fest
